Resistors are sold with fixed values, that is standard ones. There are many series called E3, E6, E12, E21, E48, E96 and E192. Base value for an Ex serie are Ri=10^(i/x) for i between 0 and x-1. Then, a serie contains all the multiple by 10 of this base serie.
For exemple, the E12 serie (the most known) is constitued by values 10, 12, 15, 18, 22, 27, 33, 39, 47, 56, 68 et 82 Ohm, decaOhm, hectoOhm, kiloOhm, 10^4Ohm...
We must remark that E3 to E24 serie have only 2 significant digits but after that, we must consider 3 digits.
The following table gives base value for E12 and E24 series.
E12 serie | 10 |
